Is Treegarden the Right HR Tool for Your Team?

Most software vendors will tell you they're perfect for everyone. We won't. Answer 6 honest questions and find out whether Treegarden fits where you are right now, even if the answer is "not yet."

Takes 90 seconds · No email required to see your result · No sales pressure

Treegarden is an ATS and HR platform built for growing companies, typically between 10 and 200 employees, hiring 10 to 50 people per year. At that scale, managing candidates in email threads or spreadsheets starts costing you good hires. Multiple hiring managers lose track of where candidates are. Interview feedback gets buried. Follow-up emails don't get sent.

The assessment below asks about your team size, hiring volume, current process, and the HR functions you need. Based on your answers, you'll get one of four honest results: not ready yet, a good fit for the ATS, a strong fit for the full platform, or a signal that you might need an enterprise solution we can't currently provide.

Frequently asked questions

Who is Treegarden designed for?

Treegarden is built for growing companies between 10 and 200 employees. The sweet spot is teams hiring 10–50 people per year who want a unified ATS and HR platform without the complexity or cost of enterprise systems.

Do I need an ATS if I have fewer than 10 employees?

Probably not yet. At under 10 employees with fewer than 5 hires per year, a structured spreadsheet process is often sufficient. The pain that justifies an ATS typically kicks in when you have 3 or more roles open simultaneously, or you're hiring more than 8–10 people per year.

When should a startup start using HR software?

Most startups reach the "spreadsheet breaking point" between 15 and 30 employees. The HR module (leave, onboarding, performance) typically becomes valuable around 30–75 employees, when you have someone who owns HR and they're managing more than just recruiting.

What is the minimum team size for Treegarden?

There's no minimum. However, teams with fewer than 5 hires per year often don't see enough ROI to justify the investment. The assessment will tell you honestly if you're at that stage.

Is Treegarden good for companies hiring more than 50 people per year?

Yes, Treegarden handles high-volume hiring well for teams up to around 200 employees. Above 300 employees or 100+ hires per year, you may start needing enterprise-grade features we don't currently offer. The assessment will flag this honestly.

What's the difference between the ATS and HR module?

The ATS handles everything from job creation to hiring: posting, candidate pipeline, interviews, scorecards, and offer letters. The HR module handles your existing employees: onboarding, leave management, performance reviews, and employee records. Both are included and share data automatically; a candidate who accepts an offer becomes an employee record without manual entry.

Does Treegarden work without a dedicated HR person?

Yes. Many customers are companies where the CEO, COO, or office manager owns hiring. Treegarden is designed to reduce the time required, not to require a dedicated HR team to operate it.

How honest is this assessment?

Completely. If your company is too small, we'll tell you and suggest what to do instead. If you need an enterprise solution, we'll say that too. We'd rather give you an accurate answer than oversell and have you churn in 3 months.

Does Treegarden include reporting and analytics?

Yes. Treegarden includes built-in reporting covering time-to-hire, pipeline conversion rates, source-of-hire tracking, and job board ROI. Reports update in real time — no separate BI tool or manual data export required.

Can external recruiters or agencies use Treegarden?

Yes. Treegarden includes a dedicated external collaborator portal. External recruiters and agencies can submit candidates directly into your pipeline with access limited to only the roles you assign them — no visibility into other candidates or internal data.
