About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists in all aspects of prescription processing, inventory management, and patient service. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and process prescription orders, checking for completeness, accuracy, and potential drug interactions before routing to the pharmacist
- Count, measure, and prepare medications for dispensing, including oral solids, liquids, topical preparations, and IV admixtures (where applicable)
- Operate automated dispensing systems and pharmacy management software to process prescriptions efficiently
- Process third-party insurance claims, resolve adjudication errors, and assist patients with insurance-related questions
- Maintain accurate controlled substance logs, perform DEA required counts, and report discrepancies to the supervising pharmacist
- Manage medication inventory including ordering, receiving, stocking shelves, rotating stock, and removing expired products
- Compound non-sterile preparations as directed, following USP 795 standards (sterile compounding per USP 797 where applicable)
- Provide customers and patients with accurate information regarding prescription pickup, refills, and general pharmacy services under pharmacist supervision
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy workspace in compliance with state board regulations
- Assist in training new technician staff and pharmacy students on workflows, systems, and compliance requirements
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Current state pharmacy technician registration or license (as required by state law)
- CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT certification from NHA, or demonstrated eligibility and willingness to sit for exam within 90 days
- Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail, hospital, or outpatient setting
- Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software (QS/1, PioneerRx, Epic Willow, or equivalent)
- Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate dosage calculations and compounding measurements
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to patient safety standards
Nice to Have
- Advanced CPhT (CPhT-Adv) certification from PTCB
- Experience with sterile IV compounding and clean-room protocols (USP 797)
- Bilingual proficiency for communicating with non-English-speaking patients
